I will try not to repeat too many of the prior reviews, but when a business is really horrible about doing something the proper way, it can be a bit hard to not continue to emphasize how extremely awful they are.

To be completely honest, my initial thoughts on Ally bank were extremely positive and hopeful. Firstly, their ad campaign was quite successful, as well as their aesthetically pleasing Ally logos. They have the highest online interest rates and offer many other services that definitely attract people (like myself). Once I made an account with them, the getting started process was easy, and I loved how I could scan and send in my checks via the Ally eDeposit. Everything was going good, until the "Veneer" of what Ally appears to be on outer shell, took a tumble and has lost me ever since.

My extremely awful experience (which is still ongoing), refers to the malicious and infamously known "Fraud Department". As previously mentioned, I had been scanning and cashing checks online with no problem whatsoever. Then, I happened to cash a check that actually listed my address on it, which I had only lived at for a month. This is when Ally decided, with no warning whatsoever, to lock my account. They asked if I had "recently moved", in which case I told them that I had. However, the thing is that I had actually signed up for my Ally account using that exact mailing address...so i'm not quite sure why how long i'd lived there or if I recently moved matters.

Regardless of the "Why" in terms of them locking my account, I complied to their demands and e-mailed them a Drivers License (front/back), Social Security Card, and a copy of my Utility bill. I never received any sort of reply or acknowledgement as to whether they had received my e-mail and whether or not they had started the process of fixing my situation. I called a day later, explained my situation and who I was and asked how long it would take. I was told "24-48 hours" in which case I politely said thank you and ended the conversation. Yet here we are, 6 days later, no progress whatsoever and no communication from the Fraud associate.

To break it down simply, here's some of the most rudimentary things that Ally's Fraud Department lacks in terms of Customer Service:

- Little to no communication with the customer they are supposed to be HELPING

- Very little people skills, not so friendly or understanding

- Money gets locked/frozen...how is this a common practice by such a large bank over such minute instances in which have happened to so many others?

- Voicemails are left but not returned in a timely manner (if at all)

- There is no sense of urgency or appreciation for the customer's situation.

Personally, and I'm only saying this because i've done it before...but if I were the link between whether or not a person has access to their lifeline (money), I would personally take time out of my lunch break, come in early, or stay late in order to fix the problem that I had "promised" to do so in 24-48 hours. It's just disgusting how nonchalantly this bank locks their customers accounts and the literal fight that you have to go through in order to get money that is yours.

Ally, you are on thin ice with me...

My bank account is also frozen the day we had some electrical problems just after a bad storm. Never get online with this bank during or just after a storm you will lock your account if you do.

ally bank is just looking for excuses other than the storm power outages.

And because of that they never fix the problem. Has anyone got there account unblock and gotten there money in there account back.

You sound like a nut posting this. I've NEVER had a problem with Ally, even in bad weather
